What is the SAE?

What is the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and how do they use PKI to ensure trust?

SAE International, formerly known as the Society of Automotive Engineers, is a professional organization for engineers. They are incorporating PKI in electric vehicle charging stations. The project is known as SAE EV Charging Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) project and is an industry-led pre-competitive research project to strengthen electric vehicle charging system security. They are working to develop a secure EV charging industry PKI platform which is agnostic to charging system and protocol standards.
